2023- During the Canterbury Park race meet in 2023, 56 horses that were born at Wind N Wood Farm won 214 races and earned $1,861,748.00

A tribute to Come Summer

Come Summer was born in 1983 and was originally purchased by Ward and Roberta Williford from Dallas, Tx as a racing prospect. He ran once as a 2 year old and won. They went on to race him as a 3 year old. He arrived at Canterbury Park with his trainer Rusty Arnold. He ran 4 races, won all 4, set 3 track records, one of which still stands today. He won the Fort Snelling Stakes, The Edina Handicap and the Canterbury Derby. In one of the derby prep races, Come Summer beat the outstanding horse Smile   He was named Canterbury Park’s “Horse of the Year” in 1985. In 2000, he was inducted into Canterbury Park’s Hall of Fame.
The Willifords followed Come Summer around the United State during his racing carrier while he won 14 races and earned over $360,000
After the Williford’s retired Come Summer from Racing, Wind N Wood Farm purchased him as a stallion prospect. Many of his foals went on to be successful race horses. Sire of King of Unicorn, Stakes Winner of $363,735 in Hong Kong. Additional stakes horses include: Summing Up, Haulin Oats, Summer Came Early and Zumbrota’s Tiger

Come Summer died peacefully in his paddock on 1/22/13 at age 31.

1/2019 Krishel Huffaker, Boise, ID, purchased Tavernonthecrow. He will be used as a therapy horse.
7/2018 AP Is Loose, owned and bred by Joel Zamzow, becomes the MN bred who has won the most money since opening in 1985. He foaled here at Wind N Wood Farm.
3/29/18 Fourth-generation homebred, Tavernonthecrow, won at Turfway Park
12/15/17 Home-bred Tavernonthecrow won at Turfway Park by 6 lengths.
1/1/17 Homebred Zan Creek has 4 wins and has earned $72,520.
5/2016 Fourth generation homebred, Tavernonthecrow, won at Canterbury Park opening weekend by 5 lengths.
1/22/13 Come Summer died peacefully in his paddock today.
1/1/2013 Our Thoroughbred stallion, Come Summer, turns 31 years old today.
